Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Marquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jackson Teller! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Teller lands a two punch combo.
Marquez takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Teller waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Marquez. Marquez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Teller circles away. Teller lands a head shot. Teller lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Horrible takedown attempt by Marquez or perhaps it was just good defense by Teller, which made it look bad. Teller lands a head kick. Marquez smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Marquez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Teller. Teller throws a wild combination but nothing lands. This has been an exciting period of action! Teller misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's one minute gone in the round. Teller lands a two punch combo.

Nice sprawl there from Teller as Marquez shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Marquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Teller throws a nice looking combination but Marquez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nice shot lands for Teller. Teller throws a head kick that half lands.
Teller thows a left - swing and a miss! Marquez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Teller looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Marquez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Teller is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marquez trying to control the action but Teller is working from the bottom. Teller is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Marquez asserts his dominance and retains side control. Marquez happy to just control the position for now. Teller is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Marquez off and has taken his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Teller is looking to control Marquez but Marquez is wriggling around and keeping busy. Marquez tries to roll but Teller sticks to his back.
Marquez looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Marquez breaks Teller's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Teller is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Marquez won't allow Teller to sweep him here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Teller controls Marquez momentarily but Marquez frees himself. Marquez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Marquez advances to half guard. Teller is looking to escape. Teller is not content to let Marquez control the position. Marquez stalling away here and it's allowed Teller to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Marquez trying to control but Teller is working from the bottom. Teller throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jackson Teller dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Teller connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Marquez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Teller's half guard. Teller pushes Marquez off looking to stand but Marquez dives back in and keeps control.
Teller keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Marquez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Teller is looking to improve his position.

Marquez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Teller keeps working. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Teller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Teller wants to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Teller darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Marquez has a takedown stuffed. Jackson Teller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marquez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson Teller is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Teller lands a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Teller's corner calls for a 1-2. Teller obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Marquez goes for a double leg but Teller avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Teller continues to drive forward. Teller scores with a knee to the head.
Teller pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Teller throws a jab when Marquez was well out of range. Marquez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Teller is fending him off so far but Marquez persists. Nope, Teller circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Marquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Teller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Teller goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Marquez gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marquez is keen to just control but Teller is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Teller wants to get back to full guard. Teller is pressing down on Marquez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Teller working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marquez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marquez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Marquez trying to control but Teller is working from the bottom. Teller is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Teller has Marquez pulled in close to control his posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Marquez trying to control but Teller is working from the bottom. Marquez is sitting in close to Teller's body. Teller has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Marquez is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Marquez is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Teller.
