Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Sassano Jnr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Teddington! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sassano Jnr keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Teddington avoids the head kick by Sassano Jnr.
Sassano Jnr throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Sassano Jnr misses with a few strikes there.
Teddington looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Sassano Jnr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Sassano Jnr wants to sweep but no luck. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Teddington stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sassano Jnr swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Teddington postures up in Sassano Jnr's guard and throws a big left but Sassano Jnr blocks it. Sassano Jnr pulls Teddington in close to his closed guard and prevents Teddington from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Teddington trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sassano Jnr on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sassano Jnr tries to get out of the position. Teddington stops Sassano Jnr from standing up. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sassano Jnr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Teddington misses with a body shot.
Sassano Jnr swats away the attempt to clinch by Teddington. Tony Sassano Jnr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sassano Jnr pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Teddington back to the cage. Sassano Jnr follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Teddington has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Sassano Jnr. Teddington with a lazy takedown attempt and Sassano Jnr counters with a left and a right that stings Teddington.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Teddington wants to clinch but Sassano Jnr slips to the side and Sassano Jnr counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Teddington thows a left - swing and a miss! Sassano Jnr with a nice cross. Sassano Jnr lands a left and a right that send Teddington crashing to the mat, dazed. Sassano Jnr thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Teddington is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Teddington closes the distance but Sassano Jnr moves to the side and Sassano Jnr counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Teddington is still on wobbly legs! Can Sassano Jnr finish him? Teddington dodges the punch combination from Sassano Jnr.
Sassano Jnr lands a lovely overhand right. Teddington shoots and misses and Sassano Jnr counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Teddington falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Tony Sassano Jnr! Tony Sassano Jnr spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
