Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Barros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reggie Lester has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Reggie Lester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alan Barros!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barros clinches with his opponent.
Lester is trying to pull guard but Barros turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Lester jumps guard but Barros stands there with Lester around his waist. Lester gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Barros has clasped his hands together around Lester's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Lester throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Lester pushes Barros away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Barros gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Lester is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Lester wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lester is looking for a sweep.

Lester avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Barros.

Barros has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Alan Barros seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lester will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lester tries to score a power double leg takedown but Barros sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lester somewhat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lester enables Barros to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lester manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Lester is breathing heavily.
Barros passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Barros decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Lester misses with a hook
and Barros makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Lester really felt that one!
Barros throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Barros shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Barros looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lester is staying active underneath Barros, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lester throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Barros manages to pass to side control.
Lester parries the strikes from Barros easily there. Barros is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lester to escape.

Barros looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Barros is staying tight to Lester's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Lester is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barros trying to control the position but Lester is working away.

Barros wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lester, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Barros shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lester is trying to defend but Barros finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Barros thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lester wants to get back to his feet.
Barros blocks the strikes from Lester.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barros uses his free foot to push down on Lester's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lester.
Lester tries to lock up and control but Barros gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Barros has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lester wants to hold on but Barros pushes him away.
Barros sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Lester is wriggling around trying to escape.

Barros working for a guillotine from mount but Lester is in no mood to give up.
Barros tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lester wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Lester gets back to half guard.

Lester trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Lester throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barros decides to return to a standing position.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Barros.

Barros is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lester knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Barros wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lester keeps working.

Barros is trying to get an arm triangle but Lester is defending well.
Lester is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Barros is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Lester avoids a series of strikes thrown by Barros.
Lester holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Barros tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Lester is trying desperately to improve position.
Lester is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Barros manages to capitalize on a mistake by Lester to take his back!
Lester covers up after that shot from Barros.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alan Barros showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Barros drives through and clinches with Lester against the cage.

Barros postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lester to stand up.
Lester looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barros is fending him off so far but Lester persists. Nope, Barros circles away and we're back to standing.
Lester dodges the punch combination from Barros.

Lester gets caught flat footed, as Barros shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Alan Barros has got the better of the ground game so far.
Barros trying to control the position from guard on top but Lester is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lester has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Barros has passed into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lester can't do much from the bottom here.

You can see the frustration on Lester's face as Barros controls the position.
Lester throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Barros in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Lester throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Barros stands up and beckons Lester to his feet.

Barros closes the distance and clinches.

Barros has picked Lester up - he's going for a ride! Barros dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Lester is trying to stand.
Barros is trying to control. Lester wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Lester is pressing down on Barros's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Barros stands and throws Lester's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Lester is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Barros off and has taken his back!

Lester has got his arm under Barros's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Barros has spun round into Lester's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Barros postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Barros passes Lester's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Barros trying to control the action but Lester is working from the bottom.

Barros stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lester to get to his feet.
Barros's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Barros duly obliges.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Barros throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lester tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Barros is in Lester's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alan Barros comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Barros has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
