PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yonsil Clanger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Konrad Kurze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Clanger might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Youth Blood. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yonsil Clanger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Konrad Kurze!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Kurze.
Kurze on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A looping hook to the body misses from Clanger. Kurze does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kurze avoids the body shot from Clanger.
Clanger throws a good cross that connects.
Nice straight punches there by Clanger. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Clanger.

Clanger shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kurze is trying to control but can't.
Kurze regains full guard. Nicely done.
Clanger loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kurze looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Clanger is in close to Kurze's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Clanger makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Kurze lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Clanger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kurze gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Clanger is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kurze working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Clanger has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Clanger has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kurze is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Clanger.

Kurze lands some shots froms side control.
Kurze misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Kurze wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clanger keeps working.

Kurze looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clanger is looking to regain half guard here but Kurze keeps moving and retains side control.

Kurze working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Clanger regains half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Clanger manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kurze looking to sit in guard and control but Clanger gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Clanger connects with a couple of short punches.

Kurze is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clanger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kurze swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kurze has his foot on Clanger's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Clanger works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yonsil Clanger dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nice sprawl there from Kurze as Clanger shoots in.
Kurze misses the shot to the body.
Konrad Kurze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kurze ducks under a wild hook from Clanger.
Kurze takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kurze scores with a leg kick.
Clanger throws a hook to the side of Kurze's head but Kurze sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kurze misses with a head kick.
Clanger misses with a hook. Kurze ducked under it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clanger thows a left - swing and a miss!
Clanger throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Clanger connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Clanger dips to his left and cracks Kurze with an uppercut!

Clanger swings for the body but Kurze moves out of range.

Kurze pulls out of a head kick attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kurze enables Clanger to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kurze manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kurze avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kurze lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kurze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clanger swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kurze keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Clanger's head.

Clanger looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kurze has picked Clanger up and slammed him! Clanger can't keep hold of the triangle and Kurze manages to pass to side control!
Clanger is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kurze can do to turn this around?
Kurze is looking to take a break and control but Clanger is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kurze is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Clanger is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kurze tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kurze has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Clanger sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Clanger is looking for a sweep. Kurze is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kurze is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kurze is looking for a kimura but Clanger is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kurze to get the leverage.

Clanger is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kurze seems to be working for a kimura but Clanger defends the submission attempt.
Konrad Kurze has got the better of the ground game so far.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kurze fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kurze tries a low kick but Clanger avoids it.
Clanger moves out of range of the body kick.
Kurze lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Clanger moves out of range as Kurze throws a body kick.
Kurze throws a low kick, looking for Clanger's leg but Clanger calmly moves out of range.

Kurze is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Clanger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kurze does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Clanger is trying to control. Kurze wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Clanger is just content to waste time from the top position. Kurze takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kurze has momentary wrist control but Clanger slips an elbow through the middle.
Clanger keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kurze's head.
Kurze manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Clanger manages to get himself to full guard.

I would just about give that final round to Konrad Kurze.
Well Clanger has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
