Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexei Surov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinichi Onizuka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Surov's entrance music is Amphetamines. A fine choice. Onizuka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Nate Dogg - First We Pray kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

25 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Shinichi Onizuka! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Onizuka scores with a jab. Surov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Onizuka. We've been informed that Onizuka has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Onizuka is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Onizuka throws a hook but Surov avoids it easily. Onizuka lands with a right hand. Surov has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Surov wants to slow Onizuka down by chopping away at his legs. Onizuka throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Surov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Surov drops down looking for a counter takedown but Onizuka sprawls and moves away. Surov pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Surov misses with a straight right. Onizuka rushes Surov and presses him up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Onizuka drags the fight down to the ground.
Onizuka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Surov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Surov with a flurry of punches that miss. Surov trying to control the position from guard on top but Onizuka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Surov controlling from the top position. Onizuka is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Surov frees his head nicely. Oh but Onizuka has switched to an armbar! Surov is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
