Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bison Bowden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercer has chosen Born in the USA as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowden throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mercer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Mercer is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Mercer has Bowden pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mercer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bowden tumbling to the mat - Mercer dives into Bowden's guard.

Bowden wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mercer is now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mercer is keen to just control but Bowden is a slippery customer.

Bowden shoots for a takedown but Mercer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Bowden counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Bowden throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mercer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bowden is working Mercer over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Bowden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mercer on the ground.

and Bowden counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Bowden looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mercer is fending him off so far but Bowden persists. Nope, Mercer circles away and we're back to standing.
Mercer instigates a clinch.
Mercer jumps guard and drags Bowden to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bowden forces his way into half guard.

Bowden lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Mercer wants to get back to his feet.
Bowden looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Bowden is nestled in close to Mercer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Mercer manages to get to full guard.
Bowden loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bowden's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Bowden got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mercer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bowden has managed to get both his arms back between Mercer's legs - danger averted.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Bowden closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Bowden throws a nice looking combination but Mercer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

A looping hook to the body misses from Bowden. Mercer does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Mercer takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mercer has closed the distance and engaged Bowden in a clinch.
Bowden is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Mercer gets underhooks to prevent Bowden's takedown attempt.
Mercer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bowden scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Mercer goes for a double leg but Bowden avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bowden continues to drive forward.
Mercer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bowden circles away.
Mercer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mercer doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bowden counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
