Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Morten Joikhaaja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Spark Boro! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boro tries a head kick but it misses.
Joikhaaja feinted with a counter takedown. No luck with that takedown attempt from Joikhaaja. Joikhaaja shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Boro counter with a right hand. Boro checks a low kick from Joikhaaja. A little jabbing left from Boro on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Boro throws a head kick that misses. Joikhaaja tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Boro swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Morten Joikhaaja. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boro stuffs the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Joikhaaja tries for a takedown but Boro sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Joikhaaja fails with the takedown. Boro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Joikhaaja is controlling him. Joikhaaja has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Joikhaaja working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Joikhaaja postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Boro working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Joikhaaja. Joikhaaja throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Boro wants to stand up but Joikhaaja is controlling him. Joikhaaja working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Boro's head. Boro is still in real trouble! Can Joikhaaja finish him? That's four minutes gone in the round. Joikhaaja scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Joikhaaja content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Joikhaaja gets to his feet and stands over Boro, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Boro felt that one! Joikhaaja unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Boro from any more punishment!
