The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berzevaco misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Marcum tries to clinch up but Berzevaco circles away and keeps his distance.
Berzevaco throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Marcum shoots for a takedown but Berzevaco saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Marcum blocks a head kick by Berzevaco.
Marcum shoots in for a takedown but Berzevaco shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Berzevaco gets caught napping as Marcum dives in and scores a takedown. Berzevaco manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marcum won't allow Berzevaco to get back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Berzevaco is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Marcum has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Marcum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Berzevaco swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Marcum wants to control from the top but Berzevaco keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Berzevaco connects with a high kick.
Berzevaco tries a head kick but it misses.

Berzevaco forces Marcum back against the cage and clinches.
Berzevaco pushes off an throws an elbow but Marcum leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Marcum avoids a wild elbow strike from Berzevaco.

Marcum gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Berzevaco regains guard.
Berzevaco tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Berzevaco seems keen to control Marcum's posture.
Berzevaco is looking to stand up but Marcum isn't so interested in that idea.
Marcum is working Berzevaco over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Marcum throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Berzevaco works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Marcum wants to control from the top but Berzevaco keeps moving.
Marcum cracks Berzevaco with a solid left hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marcum stands up over Berzevaco, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Marcum gets to his feet and stands over Berzevaco, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Berzevaco felt that one! Marcum unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Berzevaco from any more punishment!
