Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darren Paddon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronaldo Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darren Paddon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo Souza!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A little feinted left hand from Paddon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Paddon takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Paddon changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Paddon connects with the punch.
Paddon ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A solid leg kick lands there for Paddon.
Souza fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Souza swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Paddon swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Paddon stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Paddon fails to land with a series of punches.
Good leg kick by Paddon there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Souza tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Souza shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Paddon napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Souza lands a decent elbow from side control.
Paddon wants to control but Souza postures up.
Paddon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Paddon tries to get out of the position.

Paddon tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Souza easily slips into full mount!

Souza can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Paddon is looking to escape.

Souza is hanging on to Paddon's back as he tries to escape.
Paddon tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Souza is landing with some decent strikes but Paddon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Paddon tries to improve his position but instead Souza has taken his back!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Paddon looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Paddon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Souza on the ground.
Souza throwing wild punches that miss their target.

Paddon can't escape the position.
Souza is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Souza gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Souza gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Souza apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Paddon buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Paddon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Souza gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Paddon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Souza walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Souza throws a right hand that Paddon ducks under and follows up with a left that Paddon also avoids with ease.
Souza takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Souza on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Paddon lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Souza tries to clinch up but Paddon circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ronaldo Souza will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Souza takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Good exchange - Paddon coming out on top.
Souza has his takedown stuffed
and Paddon counters with a straight right hand.
Souza walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ronaldo Souza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Souza misses with a jab, cross combination.
Paddon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Souza is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Paddon with a body shot.
Paddon scores with a decent looking hook.
Paddon scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Paddon stuffs the takedown attempt from Souza. Souza gets slowly back to his feet.
Souza is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Souza throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Paddon lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Paddon misses with the combination.

Souza gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Paddon to counter with a crisp jab.
Darren Paddon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronaldo Souza.

Darren Paddon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paddon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paddon wants it to stay on the feet.
Paddon scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Paddon connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Souza momentarily.


Souza is rocked!
Darren Paddon is winning the standup battle so far.
Paddon lands a brutal uppercut that launches Souza off his feet! Souza tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Darren Paddon!
