Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Coltin Scheihing! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luis Silva! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scheihing's waist but Scheihing gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side. Scheihing changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. A punch combination from Scheihing misses. Silva tries to counter with a clinch but Scheihing shakes him off and moves away. Silva's coach down at Island Fitness $50pw was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Silva's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Scheihing manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Silva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scheihing.
Silva moves into the clinch. Silva tries for a takedown. No joy.
Coltin Scheihing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luis Silva. Silva successfully pulls guard.
Scheihing might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Scheihing slips nicely into half guard. Scheihing gets to his feet - back to striking we go! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Scheihing. Silva is trying hard to land a takedown here. Scheihing sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into Scheihing's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Scheihing wants to stand up but Silva is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Scheihing has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Scheihing's legs - danger averted. Scheihing on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Scheihing tries to get out of the position. Silva content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Scheihing has locked up a guillotine! Scheihing's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Silva is holding on here and Scheihing must be using up a lot of energy. Silva has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Scheihing gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
