Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Helge Fossmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Uso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fossmo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Helge Fossmo predikar. Uso comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Get Up kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joshua Uso! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Uso gets the takedown into side control. Uso throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Uso wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fossmo keeps working. Fossmo is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Uso working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Fossmo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Uso. A lull in the action here as Uso stalls from top position. The strikes coming from Uso are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Fossmo is looking for a sweep. Uso working the ground and pound from side control. Fossmo takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Uso wants to get back to his feet. Uso is pressing down on Fossmo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Uso keeping moving, preventing Fossmo from controlling successfully. Fossmo throws an elbow that misses. Uso uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fossmo's guard. Nice move by Uso! Fossmo throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Uso wants to control from the top but Fossmo keeps moving. Fossmo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Uso defends well. Fossmo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Fossmo wants to sweep here but Uso controlling him for the moment. Fossmo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Uso trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Fossmo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Uso. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uso shoots in but no luck this time. No luck for Fossmo with that takedown attempt. Fossmo misses with a takedown attempt - Uso sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Fossmo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Uso as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Helge Fossmo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Uso tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fossmo defends well and Uso ends up having to push Fossmo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Fossmo has a takedown stuffed. Uso has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far. Fossmo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Uso is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fossmo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fossmo's back! Joshua Uso has got the better of the ground game so far. Uso scores with strikes from the back.

Uso must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Uso has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Fossmo to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Uso is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Fossmo pulls down on the head and he's put Uso to sleep! This one is all over!
