PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joanna Piechocka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soichi Nishida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Piechocka kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kill YOU !!!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joanna Piechocka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Soichi Nishida!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piechocka fails with the takedown
enabling Nishida to counter with a crisp jab.
Piechocka with a lazy takedown attempt
and Nishida counters with a nice uppercut.
Joanna Piechocka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nishida lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Piechocka walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Piechocka drops his hands momentarily and Nishida takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Nishida tries a head kick but it misses.
Nishida throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Piechocka's head.


Piechocka is rocked!
Piechocka is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Oh Piechocka is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Piechocka looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Nishida takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Piechocka seems to have got his legs back now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Piechocka clinches.
Nishida tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Nishida is trying to push Piechocka away but Piechocka has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Piechocka fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joanna Piechocka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Piechocka just misses with a elbow thrown towards Nishida's brow.
Piechocka is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nishida to keep the fight standing.
Piechocka scores with a shot to the side of Nishida's head.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Piechocka takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Piechocka seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Nishida is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Nishida wants to break the clinch but can't.
Piechocka fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Nishida is trying to force a seperation but Piechocka has the dominant position.
A right handed body shot lands from Piechocka.

Piechocka gets control of Nishida's arms and successfully pulls guard. Piechocka will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Nishida wanted to stand there but Piechocka had control of the position.
Piechocka keeping moving, preventing Nishida from controlling successfully.
Nishida wants to stand and escape but instead Piechocka has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Nishida manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Piechocka manages to get himself to full guard.

Piechocka has his foot on Nishida's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nishida works his way back into a safe position though.
Piechocka pulls Nishida in to control the position.
Nishida is looking to stand up but Piechocka won't let him.

Piechocka looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Nishida passes into side control.
The ground and pound from Nishida seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Piechocka struggling a bit here.
Nishida wants to stand but Piechocka has his arm trapped.
Piechocka is trying to control Nishida's posture but Nishida avoids it.
Nishida wants to control but Piechocka is keeping him busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
You can see the frustration on Piechocka's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Soichi Nishida dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Piechocka is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Nishida.


It looks like Joanna Piechocka has been cut.
Piechocka tries for a takedown but Nishida circles away easily
and Nishida counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Piechocka closes the distance and clinches.

Nishida breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nishida lands a jab to Piechocka's midsection.
Piechocka misses with a takedown
and Nishida cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Piechocka tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nishida swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Piechocka really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Nishida cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Piechocka attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Nishida lands a jab to the nose.
Soichi Nishida seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nishida slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Piechocka shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nishida as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joanna Piechocka. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Piechocka misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A little jabbing left from Nishida on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Nishida has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nishida connects with a nice looking jab.
Piechocka tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Nishida counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Piechocka with a poor takedown
and Nishida counters with a crisp right that sends Piechocka to the canvas! Nishida follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Soichi Nishida!
In defeat, Joanna Piechocka stepped up to the mic, saying 'Szczęście ratuje ludzi, gry braknie im odwagi. Wrócę silniejsza !!!'.
