Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Coltin Scheihing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miguel Ortega will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Coltin Scheihing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Miguel Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Scheihing but Scheihing pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ortega fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Scheihing, pushing him back against the cage.

Ortega successfully pulls guard.
Ortega wants to stand but Scheihing is controlling the position.
Ortega is trying to control the position but Scheihing postures up.
Scheihing has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortega keeping moving, preventing Scheihing from controlling successfully.
Scheihing wants to stand and escape but instead Ortega has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


Scheihing has an active guard here but Ortega has managed to pass into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Scheihing avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ortega.
Scheihing is trying to get back to full guard.
Scheihing looks like he's trying to stand up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ortega is looking to advance position but Scheihing won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Scheihing dives in and scores a takedown into Ortega's guard.
Scheihing slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Scheihing throws a big right hand that misses.

Scheihing drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ortega looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ortega looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ortega!

Scheihing prevents Ortega from moving into mount.

Ortega decides to stand up, so the ref orders Scheihing to his feet.
Ortega shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ortega has a takedown stuffed.
Coltin Scheihing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Ortega.

Ortega tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Scheihing manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Scheihing slaps away a takedown attempt from Ortega, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Scheihing shoots in but Ortega avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ortega moves in looking to clinch but Scheihing pushes him off.
Horrible takedown attempt by Scheihing or perhaps it was just good defense by Ortega, which made it look bad.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sloppy strikes from Scheihing. Those never looked like landing.
Scheihing leaves Ortega with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Miguel Ortega will probably get the nod.

Scheihing takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Scheihing tries to counter with a takedown but Ortega is quick to defend against it.

Scheihing closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ortega's guard.
Scheihing trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ortega's guard.
Ortega tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Scheihing wants to control from the top but Ortega keeps moving.
Ortega not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Scheihing lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ortega circles away quickly and effectively.
Ortega looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Scheihing closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Scheihing tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ortega knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Ortega wants to clinch up but Scheihing keeps it at a distance.

Ortega shoots in looking for a takedown. Scheihing tries to sprawl out of it but Ortega keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Scheihing manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ortega tries to bench press Scheihing off him but Scheihing keeps the position.

Ortega is working for a submission of some sort.
Scheihing wants to control but Ortega is keeping busy.

Ortega thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Scheihing's head.
Scheihing is looking to improve his position.

Ortega is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Scheihing defends it well.

Scheihing is trying to escape back to his feet but Ortega uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Ortega working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ortega wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Scheihing, who protects the arm well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ortega throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scheihing's waist but Scheihing gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ortega off to one side.
Coltin Scheihing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Ortega.
Scheihing changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ortega tries to avoid it but Scheihing manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ortega to the ground. Ortega escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Coltin Scheihing is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ortega closes the distance and clinches.
Ortega tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Ortega takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ortega is trying to pull guard but Scheihing turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ortega has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Scheihing is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Scheihing drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ortega gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Scheihing is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ortega breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Scheihing scores with a nice body kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Coltin Scheihing.
I think Scheihing has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
