Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dorsey Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Smith will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dorsey Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Smith!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Morris wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Morris really is a fat lump.
Smith with a poor takedown

and Morris counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Smith!
Smith tries to buck Morris off but Morris is having none of it.
Morris scoring with punches from side control.
Smith is looking for a sweep.

Morris tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Morris has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morris misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Smith is pushing Morris's head away, looking to escape. Morris manages to hold on to the position though.

Morris is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Smith sneaks back into half guard.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Morris is working away from the top position though.
Smith is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.

Morris slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dorsey Morris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Smith.

Morris throws the left hand but Smith avoids the punch easily.
Smith is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith controls Morris momentarily but Morris frees himself.

Morris thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smith's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morris tries to pass to full mount but Smith defends it.
Smith wants to control but Morris is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Morris tries to clinch up.

Smith clinches up with Morris and pushes him back against the cage.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smith goes for a double leg but Morris avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Morris continues to drive forward.
Morris tries to counter with a takedown but Smith is quick to defend against it.

Morris breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith throws a looping overhand right but Morris ducks down to avoid it.
Morris changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Morris as he avoids it easily.

and Morris counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Morris.
Smith is breathing heavily.

Morris gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Smith regains guard.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Morris from controlling successfully.

Smith is striking from the bottom but Morris uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Morris instigates a clinch.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Morris has taken the fight to the clinch.
Morris tries to pull guard but Smith won't allow it.
Morris fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Smith gets underhooks to prevent Morris's takedown attempt.
Morris stops a takedown attempt from Smith.

Morris jumps guard and drags Smith to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Smith trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Morris isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Smith stacks Morris on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Smith!

Morris might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Morris is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Smith is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith tries for a kimura but Morris is defending well.
Morris wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Smith throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Smith tries to stand but Morris is controlling his head.
Morris wants to control but Smith postures up.
Morris is looking for a sweep.
Smith tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Morris is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Morris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dorsey Morris will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith lands with a punch from half guard.

Morris kicks off Smith and gets to his feet.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Morris seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Smith blocks the body kick.
Dorsey Morris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Morris tries to pull guard but Smith holds him up against the cage and eventually Morris drops back down to his feet.

Smith is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Smith wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Smith works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Morris trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Morris throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
