PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kk Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hideo Kono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brewer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is scooby doo. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kk Brewer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hideo Kono!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kono throws a body punch but Brewer moves out of range.
Kono looks to land a body kick but Brewer moved away.
We've been told by Brewer's head coaches at Condor Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Brewer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kono fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kono throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Brewer lands a front kick.
Kono blocks a leg kick.
Kono was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kono has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Brewer misses with a head kick.
A low kick from Brewer is predictable there
and Brewer takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kono throws a leg kick but Brewer sees it coming and moves out of range.
Brewer scores with a body shot.
Brewer tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brewer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Brewer misses with a series of wild punches.
Kono follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Kono tries to clinch but Brewer moves out of range.
Brewer fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brewer fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kono has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kono explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Kono turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Brewer throws a chopping leg kick but Kono manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kk Brewer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brewer takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A nice leg kick lands there from Brewer.
Kono stuffs the takedown attempt from Brewer. Brewer gets slowly back to his feet.
Kono appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
A good leg kick by Brewer.
Kono throws a hook but Brewer avoids it easily.
Kono throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Brewer's head.
Brewer takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kono keeps the fight on the outside.
Brewer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kono walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Brewer checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kono closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brewer pushes Kono back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Brewer blocking some punches.
Brewer misses with a short punch on the inside.
Kono goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Kono throws a punch but it's blocked by Brewer.

Brewer jumps guard and drags Kono to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kono tries to stand but Brewer is controlling from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brewer is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kono being controlled here, momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brewer trying to control but Kono is working from the bottom.
Brewer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Brewer is standing up over Kono. Kono looks to escape but Brewer dives into side control.
Brewer wants to take a breather but Kono manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Brewer.
Brewer won't allow Kono to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Brewer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kono keeping moving, preventing Brewer from controlling successfully.
Brewer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kono is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
A short right from Brewer on the inside.
Brewer struggles to land a body shot inside as Kono controls his hands.
Brewer lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kono or not.
Brewer lands a left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kk Brewer will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kono looks to land a right hand but Brewer moved out of range.
Brewer blocks a head kick by Kono.
Brewer throws a sloppy body shot
and Kono counters with a straight right hand.
A head kick by Kono misses
and Brewer counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Brewer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kono was well out of range. Poor timing from Brewer.
Good leg kick by Brewer there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Brewer looks to score with a jab to the body but Kono is just out of range.

Brewer clinches.
Kono prevents a body shot from Brewer.
Brewer is trying to pull guard but Kono turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kono goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kono lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kono presses Brewer against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Kono dodges an elbow strike from Brewer.
Brewer drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kono tries to work over Brewer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A short right from Brewer.
Brewer lands a hook that snaps the head of Kono backwards.
Brewer landing knees to the head.

Brewer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Brewer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kono misses the jab.
Brewer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Brewer tries to clinch up.
Brewer misses with a body kick.
Brewer lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Kono falls backwards - clearly groggy! Brewer dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kk Brewer!
