Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stuart King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominick The Destroyer ! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from The Destroyer . King half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. King misses with a hook. As King backs off The Destroyer throws a huge counter combo but King manages to avoid it all. The Destroyer lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. The Destroyer tries a head kick but it misses.
The Destroyer shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. The Destroyer throws a head kick that misses. King feinted with a counter takedown. The Destroyer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A slow jab from King misses its intended target. The Destroyer throws a series of punches but King moves out of range. King drops down looking for a counter takedown but The Destroyer sprawls and moves away. King dodges the punch combination from The Destroyer .
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Destroyer moves out of range of the body kick from King.
The Destroyer misses with the combination.
The Destroyer thows a leg kick but King checks it and King counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. King postures up in The Destroyer 's guard and throws a big left but The Destroyer blocks it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as King accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. King tries to free his leg and advance position but The Destroyer is retaining full guard. King working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. King stays in close to The Destroyer 's body and controls the position. King wants to pass the guard but The Destroyer is keeping the position. King engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. King slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. King will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The Destroyer prevents King from improving position. King working the ground and pound. King working the ground and pound but The Destroyer is defending the strikes. King trying to control the position but The Destroyer is working away. King remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. King scores with a couple of short elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on The Destroyer 's face as King controls the position. King tries to advance to mount but can't. The Destroyer has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. King has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for The Destroyer ! King postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have The Destroyer in real trouble here! The ref calls for The Destroyer to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stuart King! A relieved looking Stuart King thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
