The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deal ducks under a wild hook from Spikes.
Deal defending well as Spikes loads up on a big left hand.
Deal throws a shot from downtown. Spikes moves away and avoids it.
Spikes is looking to clinch.
Deal looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Spikes clinches up with Deal and pushes him back against the cage.
Spikes tries to pull guard but Deal forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Deal misses with a short punch on the inside.
Spikes jumps into guard, dragging Deal to the mat.
Spikes looking for a guillotine here but Deal defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deal wants to control from the top but Spikes keeps moving.
Deal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spikes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spikes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Spikes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Deal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Deal avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Spikes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Deal wants to control from the top but Spikes keeps moving.
Spikes is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Deal frees his head nicely. Oh but Spikes has switched to an armbar! Deal is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
