The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masters feints and as Erickson raises his hands in defense, Masters changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Masters wants to control from the top but Erickson keeps moving.
Erickson is looking for a triangle here but Masters uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Erickson striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Masters tries for a kimura but Erickson is defending well.
Masters sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Erickson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Erickson wants to control but Masters is having none of it.

Erickson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Masters paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Masters tries to bum rush Erickson with a series of wild strikes but Erickson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Masters has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Erickson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Erickson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Masters wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Masters is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Erickson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Grover Erickson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Devin Masters.
Erickson gets control of Masters's arms and successfully pulls guard. Erickson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Masters wants to get up but he can't break Erickson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Masters slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Erickson is trying to get back to his feet but Masters has full control of the position and if anything, Erickson has just worked his way into a worse spot.
