PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boris Yeltsin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Driello Touredo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Yeltsin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Driello Touredo!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Touredo clinches up with Yeltsin and pushes him back against the cage.
Touredo is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Yeltsin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Yeltsin looking to slow down the pace here.

Touredo unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Yeltsin is breathing heavily.
Touredo taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Touredo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Touredo closes the distance and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Touredo lands with a short punch from the clinch.


It looks like Boris Yeltsin has been cut.
Yeltsin is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Touredo is keeping busy.

Touredo wants the takedown. Yeltsin is fighting it off but Touredo persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Yeltsin's guard against the cage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yeltsin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Touredo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yeltsin is keeping the position for now.
Touredo pushes down on Yeltsin's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Touredo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Touredo lands a nice short elbow.
Touredo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yeltsin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Touredo is looking for a kimura but Yeltsin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Touredo to get the leverage.

Touredo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Touredo in particular looking to stall.

Touredo is working for a kimura but Yeltsin is defending it quite comfortably.

Touredo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Touredo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Yeltsin has managed to free his arm - good work.

Touredo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yeltsin is just riding it out for now. Touredo eventually gives up the hold.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Touredo connects with a nice short shot to Yeltsin's temple.


Boris Yeltsin's cut is getting worse.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Touredo seems to be working for a kimura but Yeltsin defends the submission attempt.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Driello Touredo dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Boris Yeltsin's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Touredo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Touredo moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Touredo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Yeltsin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Yeltsin throws a poor cross that misses

and Touredo counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Touredo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Touredo passes Yeltsin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Touredo moves nicely into side control.

Touredo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yeltsin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Touredo has hold of Yeltsin's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Yeltsin seems comfortable defending it but Touredo has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Yeltsin is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Yeltsin is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Touredo couldn't care less - he's delighted!
