PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Campos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uwe Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). He arrived on a last minute flight shortly after looking tired and unhappy. Officials decided the fight should still take place, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Campos and Uwe Grant. Campos's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Doom and Gloom by The Rolling Stones. The crowd seem to be enjoying Grant's choice of entrance music: Wu Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M.. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Uwe Grant!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campos misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grant.
Grant wants to counter the offense by Campos and move into the clinch position.
Grant catches Campos with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Campos misses with a left hand
and Grant counters with a left to the body.
Grant has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Grant stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Campos leaves Grant with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Grant swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Campos.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grant closes this distance looking for a takedown but Campos circles away.
Campos appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

and Grant decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Campos's guard.

Campos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grant has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Campos has managed to get both his arms back between Grant's legs - danger averted.

Grant is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Grant is trying to work for a kimura but Campos is defending well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Campos shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Grant eats them both and turns towards Campos to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Uwe Grant has been cut.
Grant tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Campos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Daniel Campos is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Uwe Grant's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Uwe Grant's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Daniel Campos!
Daniel Campos seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
