The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mercer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mercer is struggling to control the position.
Mercer doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Mercer tries to break the clinch but Gromov is controlling the position.
Gromov manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Mercer looking to sit in guard and control but Gromov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gromov pushes down on Mercer's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Gromov scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mercer tries to kick Gromov off but Gromov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mercer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gromov tries to pass to full mount but Mercer defends it.

Gromov is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Mercer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
