Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eiji Kawashima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Rocker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rocker has chosen Ki:Theory - Stand By Me as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Rocker!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawashima uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rocker.
The fighters circling - Rocker throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kawashima fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rocker checks it well.
Rocker drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kawashima defends it well.
Rocker misses the jab.
Rocker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kawashima moves away.
Kawashima is looking to counter punch.
Rocker throws a low kick but Kawashima avoids it.
Rocker darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

and Kawashima counters with a straight right hand.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rocker darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Kawashima pushes Rocker off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Kawashima scores with a sloppy right hand. Rocker should have avoided that one.
Rocker bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kawashima's head.
Rocker shoots for a double leg takedown but Kawashima sprawls well. He's pushed Rocker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rocker lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kawashima's sensitive parts.

We've been told by Kawashima's head coaches at Furia Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Rocker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kawashima sprawls well. Kawashima wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rocker gets slowly back to his feet.

Rocker swings for the body but Kawashima moves out of range.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rocker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kawashima's guard.

Rocker throws a strike but Kawashima rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Rocker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kawashima feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Rocker's calf.

Kawashima moves away from the strike by Rocker.
Eiji Kawashima is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rocker lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kawashima has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kawashima and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ricky Rocker will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Rocker lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rocker throws a hook but Kawashima avoids it easily.

Kawashima throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kawashima looks to score with a jab to the body but Rocker is just out of range.

Kawashima tries to land a front kick but Rocker steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ricky Rocker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rocker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
