3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy McLarnin! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLarnin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. McLarnin throws a hook but Hovimaki avoids it easily. Hovimaki thows a left - swing and a miss! Hovimaki looks to throw the jab but McLarnin is out of range. McLarnin throws a hook to the side of Hovimaki's head but Hovimaki sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hovimaki appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Oooh a lovely combination from McLarnin sends Hovimaki down but not out. McLarnin dives into side control looking to finish.

It looks like Mikko Hovimaki has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hovimaki taking a bit of punishment here - McLarnin scoring with strikes. Oh Hovimaki is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McLarnin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. McLarnin trying to control the position from guard on top but Hovimaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McLarnin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. McLarnin throws a lazy uppercut
and Hovimaki counters with a stiff right hand.

Hovimaki swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. McLarnin throws an off balance right hand
and Hovimaki counters with a lovely shot to the body. McLarnin jabbing away but nothing is landing. Hovimaki was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A big left from Hovimaki misses. McLarnin is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. McLarnin misses the body punch and Hovimaki counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. McLarnin misses with an uppercut

McLarnin looks to land a left hand but Hovimaki moved out of range nicely. Hovimaki takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Hovimaki connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between McLarnin's hands. This has been an exciting period of action! McLarnin throws a sloppy body shot
and Hovimaki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hovimaki takes a shot right to the bread basket. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy McLarnin dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mikko Hovimaki's cut. That's time! Hovimaki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
McLarnin throws a good cross that connects.
McLarnin loads up on a big right hand but Hovimaki slips the punch. McLarnin tries to bum rush Hovimaki with a series of wild strikes but Hovimaki uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hovimaki throws a shot from downtown. McLarnin moves away and avoids it. McLarnin steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Hovimaki. Hovimaki misses with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McLarnin scores with a nice strike. Hovimaki is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Hovimaki cracks McLarnin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. McLarnin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's one minute gone in the round. McLarnin fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Hovimaki to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Hovimaki looks to clinch but McLarnin throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Hovimaki taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
