1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Peter Viking! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevenson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Viking napping and manages to drive through into side control! Stevenson is looking to take a break and control but Viking is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Viking tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Stevenson easily slips into full mount! Viking is trying to escape the mount.
Stevenson throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stevenson fails to advance to Viking's back. Stevenson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Viking is looking to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevenson looking for a guillotine from mount but Viking is having none of it. Stevenson looking to finish with strikes here!
Stevenson looking to control but Viking is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. We've been hearing good reports from Stevenson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Stevenson takes Viking's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Viking is in trouble. Viking is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Stevenson is hanging on to Viking's back as he tries to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Viking is keeping busy.
Stevenson is looking for the choke from the back position but Viking is controlling his hands well. Stevenson has his arm under Viking's chin here. Game over son! Stevenson squeezes tightly and Viking is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Denis Stevenson! Denis Stevenson spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
