PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Trap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dias is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Linkin Park - In The End. William Dias is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Trap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Dias!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trap tries to clinch but Dias moves out of range.
Trap tries for a takedown but Dias sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dias stuffs the takedown attempt from Trap. Trap gets slowly back to his feet.
As Trap backs off Dias throws a huge counter combo but Trap manages to avoid it all.
Dias avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dias fails with an attempt to clinch.
Trap shoots in for a takedown but Dias shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Trap. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dias swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Trap moves into the clinch.

Dias throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Traps head.
Trap changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dias fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Dias tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dias has Trap pressed against the cage, preventing Trap from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Trap tries to land knees in the clinch but Dias avoids the damage to the body.

Trap really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Trap keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dias's efforts to push away.
Dias is trying to break free.
Trap jumps guard but Dias turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Dias's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Trap changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dias tries to avoid it but Trap manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dias to the ground. Dias escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dias tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trap swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Trap shoots in looking for a takedown. Dias tries to sprawl out of it but Trap keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dias manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Trap is breathing heavily.

Dias instigates a clinch.

Dias makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Dias escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trap avoids a kick to the body.
Dias fails in his attempt to clinch.
Dias throws the kick towards the body but Trap avoids it.
Dias connects with a high kick.

Dias has Trap up against the cage in a clinch.
Dias is trying to break the clinch but Trap has him pressed against the cage.
Dias stalling.
Trap blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Trap is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Dias to keep the fight standing.

Dias pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dias throws a head kick that misses.
Trap is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Dias darts in and clinches Trap up against the cage.

Trap escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trap shoots for a double leg takedown but Dias sprawls well. He's pushed Trap's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dias throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've been informed that Dias has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Dias pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Trap shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dias but Dias pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Trap fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dias avoids it really well and circles away.

Dias has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dias bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Trap's guard.

Trap trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Trap is trying to push Dias away but Dias has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Dias creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Trap wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dias has him pressed against the cage.

Mike Trap is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dias throws a right hand that Trap ducks under and follows up with a left that Trap also avoids with ease.

Dias stuffs the takedown attempt from Trap. Trap gets slowly back to his feet.

Dias throws a leg kick which misses Trap's front leg but catches the back leg as Trap tries to avoid it.

Trap dives in and grabs Dias's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dias pushes down on Trap's head and hops out.

and Dias counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Trap!

Dias is continuing to stall.

Dias tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Dias cracks Trap with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Dias is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Trap takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Trap half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Trap pivots, looking for a leg kick but Dias is out of range and Trap settles back down.
Dias lands a high kick!

Dias tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Trap paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Trap changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Trap takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Dias tries to clinch there but Trap circles away.
Trap appears to be looking for a big counter.
Dias swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Trap is looking for a counter combo.
Dias swings for the body but Trap moves out of range.
Trap tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dias manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

And Dias tries to counter it with a takedown but Trap pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Dias with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Trap is trying to force a seperation but Dias has the dominant position.

Dias has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Trap uses from the top position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Trap accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Trap is fighting to break Dias's control of his arms but Dias is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Dias has a closed guard, preventing Trap from standing up.
Mike Trap has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

William Dias comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dias has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
