Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gus Pappas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gus Pappas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gus Pappas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Drake! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! An inside leg kick from Drake misses. Pappas displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. An inside leg kick from Pappas misses. Drake takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Drake fails with a takedown attempt. Pappas tried to counter with a leg kick but Drake avoided it. Drake checks a leg kick. Drake darts in looking for a takedown but Pappas gets double underhooks and turns Drake into the cage. Pappas pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Drake back to the cage. Pappas follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Alex Drake has been cut. Drake looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Pappas! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Drake tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pappas is trying to improve his position. Drake has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Pappas! Pappas tries to lock up and control but Drake gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Drake sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Pappas is desperately trying to improve his position but Drake has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pappas is squirming around, avoiding Drake's attempts to control the action. Drake tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Pappas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Drake on the ground. Drake tries to control but Pappas wriggling away. Drake stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Drake closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pappas to the mat! Pappas manages to get full guard. Drake stands up from Pappas's guard - Drake perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drake tries to clinch and Pappas counters with a lovely shot to the body. Gus Pappas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pappas looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Drake takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Pappas looks to land a combination. Drake sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Pappas throws a right and a left that Drake avoids nicely. Pappas is breathing heavily. Drake wants to clinch. Drake closes the distance but Pappas moves to the side enabling Pappas to counter with a crisp jab. Pappas throws a front kick aimed at Drake's knee but Drake avoids it well. Drake feints the counter takedown. Drake needs to keep his hands up - Pappas had a free shot at his head there. A left and a right from Pappas both land. Nice combination. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pappas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Drake tries for a takedown but Pappas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gus Pappas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Drake. Drake misses the shot to the body. Drake tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pappas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Drake gets tackled into the cage by Pappas. Pappas maintains the clinch. Drake is trying to pull guard but Pappas has him pressed against the cage. Pappas is stalling here.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. Pappas stops a takedown attempt from Drake.
Pappas stalls. Pappas working hard to break the clinch. Drake is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pappas to keep the fight standing. Drake is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pappas gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Pappas prevents a takedown attempt there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gus Pappas dominated that round. The cut man is working on Alex Drake's cut. That's time! Pappas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Pappas lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Drake at a distance.
Drake tries to clinch but Pappas moves away and Pappas counters with a series of strikes. Drake will be more careful next time no doubt.
Drake is rocked! Pappas uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Drake has time to react. Drake is still on wobbly legs! Can Pappas finish him? Gus Pappas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Pappas connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Drake to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Pappas!
