Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Kisuke Urahara! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Karl Socha! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good work by Urahara as he checks the leg kick. Urahara misses with an uppercut. Urahara tries to land a leg kick but Socha saw it coming and moves away.
Urahara is looking to chop away at Socha's legs. Socha uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Urahara. Kisuke Urahara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Urahara pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Urahara fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. A punch lands to the side of Socha 's head but he takes it in his stride. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Urahara lands a jab to the head.
Urahara thumps Socha with a low kick. Nice cross by Urahara. Socha with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Socha scores with a crisp jab that stopped Urahara in his tracks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice shot lands for Urahara. Urahara shoots in for a double leg but Socha sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Urahara moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Urahara tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Socha was well out of range. Poor timing from Urahara. Urahara throws a nice looking combination but Socha bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Urahara misses with a looping right. Urahara dives in and scores a takedown into Socha's guard. Urahara wants to control from the top but Socha keeps moving. Socha is controlling Urahara's posture. Urahara wants to control from the top but Socha keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Urahara throws a big right hand that misses. Urahara won't allow Socha to sweep him here. Socha has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Socha takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Urahara fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Socha to the ground. Urahara is now in Socha's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Urahara's corner is telling him to maintain position. Socha keeping moving, preventing Urahara from controlling successfully. Urahara throws an elbow that misses. Socha uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Urahara's guard. Nice move by Socha! Socha postures up in Urahara's guard and throws a big left but Urahara blocks it. Urahara looking for a triangle here. Socha is fighting it but it looks tight! Urahara pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Socha is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Kisuke Urahara! Kisuke Urahara retains his welterweight title! Kisuke Urahara very nearly forgot to thank Museum of Monsters & Madmen amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
