Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Humphrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronnie Humphrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morgan has Humphrey up against the cage in a clinch.

Morgan has Humphrey pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Morgan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Humphrey tumbling to the mat - Morgan dives into Humphrey's guard.
Morgan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Morgan throws a big elbow that misses.
Morgan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Humphrey's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morgan trying to control but Humphrey is working from the bottom.
Morgan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Morgan wants to control from the top but Humphrey keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Morgan gets a clinch.

Morgan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Morgan lands in his opponent's guard.
Morgan wants to pass the guard but Humphrey is keeping the position.

Humphrey is looking to stand up but Morgan isn't so interested in that idea.
Morgan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Morgan tries to free his leg and advance position but Humphrey is retaining full guard.
Morgan pushes down on Humphrey's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Morgan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Humphrey keeps working.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Morgan throws a lazy right hand but Humphrey sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Morgan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Humphrey tries to counter with a takedown but Morgan is quick to defend against it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Morgan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morgan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morgan works his way into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Humphrey enables Morgan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Humphrey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Morgan wants to control from the top but Humphrey keeps moving.
Matt Morgan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Humphrey is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Morgan wants to get up but he can't break Humphrey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morgan is looking to work some ground and pound but Humphrey has wrist control.

Humphrey has a closed guard, preventing Morgan from standing up.
Morgan stands and throws Humphrey's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Morgan is looking to take a break and control but Humphrey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Morgan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Morgan lands an elbow.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Morgan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Humphrey knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Morgan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Morgan in side control lands a decent elbow.

Morgan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Humphrey keeps working.
Morgan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Morgan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Humphrey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Morgan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Morgan content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Morgan is looking to take a break and control but Humphrey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Morgan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Humphrey was covering up waiting for the punch and Morgan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morgan is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Morgan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Humphrey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Morgan has closed the distance and engaged Humphrey in a clinch.

Morgan pulls Humphrey into guard.
Humphrey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Humphrey postures up in Morgan's guard and throws a big left but Morgan blocks it.

Morgan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Humphrey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Humphrey missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Morgan trying to keep a closed guard but Humphrey is proving a slippery customer.

Morgan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Humphrey manages to get himself to full guard.

Morgan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Humphrey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Morgan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Morgan trying to control but Humphrey is working from the bottom.
Morgan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Humphrey is keeping the position for now.

Morgan feints and as Humphrey raises his hands in defense, Morgan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Morgan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Humphrey is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Morgan is controlling him.

Humphrey is looking for a triangle here but Morgan uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Morgan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Morgan stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Morgan has closed the distance and engaged Humphrey in a clinch.

Morgan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Humphrey is trying to keep an underhook but Morgan manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Morgan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

And that's the end of the fight!
Matt Morgan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Morgan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
