Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karl Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rock Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karl Patton has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rock Allen!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen swinging wildly here.
Some wild striking there from Allen.
Allen scores with a crisp jab that stopped Patton in his tracks.
Allen throws a right and a left that Patton avoids nicely.

Patton gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Allen wants to get back to striking at distance but Patton won't allow it.
Allen is working for takedown but Patton is calmly controlling the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen wants the takedown. Patton is fighting it off but Allen persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Patton's guard against the cage.

Patton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Patton has Allen pulled in close to control his posture.
Patton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Patton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Patton seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Patton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Allen looks winded!
Patton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Allen avoids it really well and circles away.
Rock Allen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Allen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Patton circles away quickly and effectively.
Patton throws a big counter combination but Allen scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Allen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Patton counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Patton.

Patton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Allen lands a nice looking body shot.
Allen looks to land a combination but Patton avoids it well.
Patton tries to clinch up but Allen circles away and keeps his distance.
Allen throws a series of punches but Patton moves out of range.

Patton instigates a clinch.
Allen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Allen misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Allen is trying to break free.
Allen jumps guard but Patton turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Karl Patton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rock Allen.
The referee calls for Patton to work.

Allen letting Patton take a breather here.
Allen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Patton has him pressed against the cage.
Allen tries to break free but Patton pushes him back against the cage.
Allen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Patton has Allen pushed against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Allen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Patton walks away with a smile on his face. Allen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Patton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Karl Patton will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Allen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Allen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Patton has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
No joy there for Allen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Patton shoots in and drives through. Allen sprawls well.
Allen checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Allen misses the shot to the body.
Patton slips under a jab from Allen.
Allen tries to bum rush Patton with a series of wild strikes but Patton uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Allen looks to land a combination but Patton avoids it well.
Allen is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patton lands a head kick!
Allen looks to land a combination but Patton avoids it well.
A combination from Patton does no damage.
Patton bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Patton seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Allen enables Patton to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Allen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Patton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Patton gets to his feet. Allen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Patton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Allen sprawls well. Allen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Patton gets slowly back to his feet.
Patton shoots in for a double leg but Allen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Allen steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Patton.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karl Patton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Allen throws a combination. Patton tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Allen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Allen wants it to stay on the feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Patton is defended easily by Allen.
Patton goes for a double leg but Allen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Allen continues to drive forward.
Patton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Allen avoids it really well and circles away.

Allen takes the fight into the clinch.

Allen manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Patton shoots in looking for a takedown. Allen tries to sprawl out of it but Patton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Allen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Patton sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Allen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Patton!

Allen stands up.

Allen moves into the clinch successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rock Allen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Patton changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Patton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Patton leaves Allen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Allen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Patton.

Patton moves into range and clinches up with Allen.
Patton prevents Allen from breaking the clinch.

Allen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Patton takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Patton dives in and grabs Allen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes down on Patton's head and hops out.

Allen moves into range and clinches up with Patton.
Allen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Patton has him pressed against the cage.
Allen lands a body punch in the clinch.

Allen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Allen looks to throw a body kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Patton.
Allen tries to bum rush Patton with a series of wild strikes but Patton uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Patton fails with the takedown.
Allen is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Some wild striking there from Allen.
Patton throws a quick counter head kick but Allen was just out of range.
Horrible takedown attempt by Patton or perhaps it was just good defense by Allen, which made it look bad.
A nice combination there by Allen.
Allen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Patton was well out of range. Poor timing from Allen.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Patton ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Allen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Patton seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Rock Allen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Patton shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Allen napping and manages to drive through into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Rock Allen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Allen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
