Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Navaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Navaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Power!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Navaro shoots for a double leg takedown but Power sprawls well. He's pushed Navaro's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Navaro fails with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Navaro looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Power feints and as Navaro raises his hands in defense, Power changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Navaro tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Navaro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Power on the ground.
Navaro wants to stand up but Power is controlling him.

Power drops back looking for a leg! Navaro is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Navaro manages to kick Power off! Power jumps back into Navaro's guard.

Power drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Power jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Power drops back looking for a leg! Navaro is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Navaro manages to kick Power off! Power jumps back into Navaro's guard.

Power thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Navaro looking for a sweep. Not yet Navaro, not yet.
Power stops Navaro from standing up.
Navaro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Power pushing down on Navaro's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Navaro is defending against the submission attempts here by Power.
Navaro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Power is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Navaro defends it well.
Power thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Power passes into side control, despite Navaro's attempt to control the position.

Power tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Power has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Power looks gassed!

Power tries for a kimura but Navaro is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Power wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Navaro, who protects the arm well.
Navaro manages to work his way to half guard, despite Power's best efforts.
Power prevents Navaro from standing back up.

Power is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Navaro defends it well.
Power tries to pass to full mount but Navaro defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Navaro blocking the ground and pound attempt from Power.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Power is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Power is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Power wants to control but Navaro is keeping him busy.
Power trying to mount his opponent but Navaro defends it.
Navaro is trying to get back to full guard.

Power is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Power dominated that round.

Navaro is looking to clinch but Power is avoiding it.
Navaro shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Navaro misses with a takedown

and Power counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Power trying to control the position from guard on top but Navaro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Power in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Navaro tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Power!
