PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kamil Cwirek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maniek Krol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kamil Cwirek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Maniek Krol!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cwirek throws a head kick that misses
and Krol counters with a big head kick but Cwirek shrugs it off.
Krol looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Cwirek gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Krol's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Cwirek turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Cwirek stands up and beckons Krol to his feet.

Cwirek closes the distance and clinches.
Krol throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cwirek blocks it with crossed arms.
The referee calls for Cwirek to work.
Cwirek has Krol pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Krol manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Cwirek pulls guard effortlessly.
Krol trying to control but Cwirek is working from the bottom.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cwirek is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Krol throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cwirek works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cwirek knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Krol on the ground.
Cwirek on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cwirek tries to get out of the position.
Cwirek really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Krol throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cwirek works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kamil Cwirek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cwirek looks to land a combination. Krol sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Krol has taken the fight to the clinch.
Krol tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Cwirek dodges an elbow strike from Krol.

Krol tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cwirek just stands there and leans against the cage.

Cwirek has hold of one of Krol's legs. Krol is fighting the takedown attempt but Cwirek gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Cwirek decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Cwirek closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Krol's guard.
Cwirek won't allow Krol to get back to his feet.
Cwirek wants to control from the top but Krol keeps moving.

Cwirek works over Krol with some ground and pound from guard.

Krol throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Krol wants to sweep here but Cwirek controlling him for the moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Krol wants to stand but Cwirek is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cwirek scores with a push kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Krol closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cwirek circles away.

Cwirek moves into the clinch.
Cwirek is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Krol tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cwirek just stands there and leans against the cage.
Cwirek tries to circle away but Krol has him pinned against the cage.

Cwirek lands an upkick as Krol stands over him.
Kamil Cwirek overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cwirek is looking for a triangle but Krol pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cwirek pulls Krol in to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cwirek wants to get back to his feet but Krol is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Krol throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Cwirek wants to sweep but no luck.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cwirek is looking to stand up but Krol isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cwirek closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Cwirek is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Krol can do to turn this around?
Krol tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cwirek manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Krol shoots in and drives through. Cwirek sprawls well.
Kamil Cwirek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maniek Krol.
Cwirek fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Cwirek tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Krol defends well and Cwirek ends up having to push Krol into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Krol pushes off an throws an elbow but Cwirek leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Krol is trying to drag Cwirek to the mat but Cwirek just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cwirek lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Krol has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Cwirek seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Krol can turn it around.

Cwirek jumps into guard, dragging Krol to the mat.

Krol gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Krol tries to clinch up but Cwirek circles away and keeps his distance.
Cwirek throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Krol tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cwirek paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Krol fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cwirek shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Krol as he avoids it easily.
Krol shoots for a takedown but Cwirek saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kamil Cwirek dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Cwirek shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Krol pinned against the cage. Krol gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
As Cwirek backs off Krol throws a huge counter combo but Cwirek manages to avoid it all.

Cwirek changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Krol looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cwirek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Krol keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cwirek tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Krol tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Krol is trying to buck Cwirek off.
Krol throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Cwirek stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Cwirek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krol tries to avoid it but Cwirek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krol to the ground. Krol escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Krol tries to counter by closing the distance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cwirek closes this distance looking for a takedown but Krol circles away.
Krol throws a counter combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kamil Cwirek. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Krol uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cwirek.
Despite the aggression on Krol's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Cwirek shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Krol defends it nicely.
And Krol tries to counter it with a takedown but Cwirek pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Cwirek drops down looking for an ankle pick but Krol pulls his leg out and moves away.

Krol looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Cwirek tries to break free but Krol pushes him back against the cage.
Cwirek keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Krol's efforts to push away.
Maniek Krol has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Cwirek breaks from the clinch.
Krol shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cwirek sprawls well. Cwirek wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Krol gets slowly back to his feet.
Cwirek throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
No luck for Cwirek with that takedown attempt.
Krol unleashes a big counter combination but Cwirek bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Kamil Cwirek is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cwirek dives in and grabs Krol's left leg, looking for a takedown. Krol pushes down on Cwirek's head and hops out.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kamil Cwirek.
Well Cwirek has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Kamil Cwirek was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
