Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adam Hanga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mason Storm! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanga shoots in for a double leg but Storm sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hanga shoots for a takedown but Storm saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hanga gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Storm to score an easy takedown into full guard. Hanga throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hanga throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Storm escapes and throws Hanga's legs to the side, diving into side control! Storm taking a breather here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanga throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanga tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Hanga tries to improve position but can't. Storm wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hanga keeps working. Hanga misses with an elbow from the bottom. Hanga tries to strike but it doesn't land. Hanga wants to control but Storm postures up. Storm working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Storm is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hanga has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hanga tries to buck Storm off but Storm is having none of it. Storm tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hanga tries to bench press Storm off him but Storm keeps the position. Hanga knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Storm on the ground. Storm trying to control the action but Hanga is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Storm thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Storm is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hanga is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Storm throws a strike aimed at the side of Hanga's head but Hanga avoids it well. Hanga striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Storm is looking to take a break and control but Hanga is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanga sneaks back into half guard. Storm is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Storm is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mason Storm dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Hanga tried to score with a low kick but Storm checks it. Storm fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hanga avoids it really well and circles away. Hanga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Storm as he avoids it easily. Hanga closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Hanga throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Storm trying to control here.
Storm works his way to full guard. Good work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Storm had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hanga defends it easily. Storm looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hanga is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Storm has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Hanga should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Storm has tightened it up now! Hanga should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
