Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Petr Petrovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregoric Chekov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrovich comes to the cage accompanied by Soviet Anthem. Gregoric Chekov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petr Petrovich! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gregoric Chekov! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petrovich moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Gregoric Chekov has been cut. Petrovich waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Chekov. Petrovich takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Chekov throws a sloppy head kick and Petrovich moves out of range easily. Chekov fails to land with a series of punches.
Chekov wants to clinch up but Petrovich keeps it at a distance. Chekov throws a head kick that misses. Chekov lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Petrovich at a distance.

Chekov is looking to clinch. Chekov is looking to clinch. Petrovich gets a clinch. Petrovich has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chekov avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Petrovich pressing his opponent against the cage. Chekov lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Chekov misses with an elbow strike.

Petrovich has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Chekov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Chekov tries to land knees in the clinch but Petrovich avoids the damage to the body. Chekov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gregoric Chekov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Petrovich wants to clinch up but Chekov keeps it at a distance. A thudding body kick lands there by Chekov!
Petrovich is breathing heavily. Petrovich throws a shot from downtown. Chekov moves away and avoids it. Petrovich tries to clinch up. Petrovich shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Petrovich was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chekov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Chekov is squirming around, avoiding Petrovich's attempts to control the action. Chekov manages to regain half guard. Good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chekov is looking to escape. Chekov is looking to improve his position.
Chekov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petrovich. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Chekov trying to hold on to Petrovich's head to control him but Petrovich postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Petrovich is looking to take a break and control but Chekov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Petrovich is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Chekov has managed to free his arm - good work. Chekov is looking to control Petrovich's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chekov avoid being mounted? Petrovich stops Chekov from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Petr Petrovich will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Gregoric Chekov's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Chekov fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Petrovich on the side of the head. Chekov ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Petrovich moves into range and clinches up with Chekov. Chekov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Petrovich has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Chekov finds it's way round the side to connect with Petrovich's head. Chekov wants to clinch and Petrovich cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Decent striking displayed by Chekov there. Chekov lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Chekov looks to land a combination. Petrovich sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Chekov throws a head kick but Petrovich moves out of range.
Gregoric Chekov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Decent striking displayed by Chekov there. Petrovich fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chekov connects with a good right hand that stumbles Petrovich. Petrovich circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Petrovich takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Chekov ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Chekov is looking to clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrovich is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Chekov lands a with a good body shot. Chekov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Petrovich looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. A decent looking cross lands there for Chekov. Chekov scores with a jab to the head.
Gregoric Chekov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Petrovich takes one to the side of the head.

That sent Petrovich stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Chekov scores with a hook to the body. Petrovich takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Chekov tries to clinch up but Petrovich circles away and keeps his distance. Chekov wants to clinch. Chekov wants to clinch. Chekov uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Chekov wants to stand and escape but Petrovich is having none of it. Petrovich wants to control from the top but Chekov keeps moving. Petrovich in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Chekov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Petrovich misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chekov.
A punch combination from Chekov misses. Petrovich lands a with a good body shot. Petrovich moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Chekov tries to clinch up and Petrovich counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chekov won't be happy with that. Gregoric Chekov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Gregoric Chekov's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Petrovich for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Chekov missing with knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petrovich looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Petrovich stops Chekov from standing up. Petrovich working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Petrovich sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chekov's guard. Petrovich is stalling here. Chekov is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Petrovich seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Chekov has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Petrovich tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chekov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Chekov stands up and beckons Petrovich to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chekov lands with a hook. Petrovich tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Chekov tries to clinch but Petrovich is having none of it. Petrovich looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Petrovich wants to pass the guard but Chekov is keeping the position. Chekov uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Petrovich shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chekov as he avoids it easily. Chekov dips to his left and cracks Petrovich with an uppercut!

Jab by Chekov. Chekov lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Chekov with a nice cross. Petrovich looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Chekov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Petrovich, pushing him back against the cage. Chekov pushes off an throws an elbow but Petrovich leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Chekov breaks from the clinch.
Petrovich on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Chekov tries to clinch but Petrovich is having none of it. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Chekov.
Chekov buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Petrovich swats away the attempt to clinch by Chekov. Chekov closes the distance and lands a one-two. Chekov connects with a body shot.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Petr Petrovich. I think Petrovich has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
