Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Kaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Woima Karhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Karhu's choice of entrance music: House of Pain - Jump Around. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Kaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Woima Karhu! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karhu fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Karhu just misses with a punch to the body.
Karhu tests Kaz's chin there with a solid looking shot. Karhu delivers a nice body kick. Karhu takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Kaz takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kaz throws a head kick but Karhu moves out of range.
Karhu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kaz. Kaz moves out of range of the strikes. Karhu throws a body punch but Kaz moves out of range. A jab from Kaz does it's job there.
It looks like Woima Karhu has been cut. Kaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Karhu feints and then cracks Kaz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kaz down. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Karhu cracks Kaz with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Kaz tried to score with a low kick but Karhu checks it. Kaz missing with a left hand there. Karhu was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Karhu has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Kaz lands a high kick!

That's one minute gone in the round. Kaz tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Karhu connects with a body shot that sends Kaz's belly button to the back. Karhu bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Karhu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kaz is trying to buck Karhu off. You can see the frustration on Kaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Karhu trying to control the position but Kaz is working away. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karhu looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Karhu wants to control but Kaz is keeping him busy. Karhu wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kaz, who protects the arm well. Karhu working away. Kaz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Karhu off and has taken his back! Kaz is hanging on to Karhu's back as he tries to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karhu rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Kaz tries to pass to full mount but Karhu defends it. Kaz is thwarting Karhu's attempts to control the position. Karhu might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kaz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Kaz missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Kaz performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kaz continues to stall. Karhu wants to sweep but Kaz has passed to side control! Kaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Karhu keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Woima Karhu dominated that round. The cut man is working on Woima Karhu's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Kaz misses with a low kick. Karhu looks to score with a jab to the body but Kaz is just out of range. Kaz has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Karhu. Karhu lands with a thumping leg kick.

Karhu has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kaz lands a shoulder strike. A head punch on the inside from Karhu fails to land. Karhu misses with a punch on the inside.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kaz lands a hook that snaps the head of Karhu backwards. A nice right hand lands inside from Kaz. Karhu missing with knees to the body.
Karhu is trying to maintain a safe position but Kaz gets an underhook and turns Karhu into the cage. Kaz lands an elbow inside. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Karhu stalling against the cage.

Kaz lands a lovely overhand right. Karhu slips a straight right by Kaz. Karhu appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Karhu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kaz moves away. Kaz avoids the body shot from Karhu.

That was a close second round but I would say that Max Kaz will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Karhu on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Kaz lands a nice leg kick that just misses Karhu's sensitive parts. Kaz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Karhu scores with a nice strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karhu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kaz tries to avoid it but Karhu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kaz to the ground. Kaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kaz throws a leg kick which misses Karhu's front leg but catches the back leg as Karhu tries to avoid it. Karhu lands a head kick. Kaz smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Max Kaz is winning the standup battle so far. Karhu feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kaz's calf. Kaz darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Karhu blocks a head kick by Kaz.

Kaz wants to clinch up but Karhu keeps it at a distance. Karhu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kaz moves away. Kaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Karhu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. And Karhu tries to counter it with a takedown but Kaz pushes his down on his head and steps out. Kaz does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Karhu checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Some bone on bone action there as Karhu checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. A little jabbing left from Karhu on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Kaz throws a leg kick but Karhu moved away. Kaz throws a wild body kick that Karhu sees coming a mile off.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kaz tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Kaz fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Kaz. Karhu's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Karhu misses with a body punch.

Kaz can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kaz as Karhu tries to tie him up. Karhu missing with knees to the body.
