Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yoshi Toranaga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Dj Penn enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yoshi Toranaga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dj Penn!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Toranaga looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Penn!
Penn is looking to get to half guard.
Penn looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Toranaga tries to get the hooks in deep but Penn pushed the leg off.
Penn breaks Toranaga's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Penn looking to pass the guard.
Penn controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Penn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Toranaga swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Toranaga is breathing heavily.

Toranaga is looking to sweep but instead, Penn has passed into half guard.
Penn not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Toranaga is refusing to be controlled, as Penn sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Toranaga kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Penn wants to clinch up but Toranaga keeps it at a distance.

Penn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Penn lands in his opponent's guard.
Penn wants to control from the top but Toranaga keeps moving.
Penn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Toranaga is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Toranaga landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Penn wants to get back to his feet.
Penn wants to control the action here but instead Toranaga manages to pass to full mount!
The referee warns Penn that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Toranaga looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Penn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Yoshi Toranaga will probably get the nod.
That's time! Toranaga's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Penn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Toranaga counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Penn!

Penn wants to control but Toranaga is having none of it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Penn slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Penn is looking for a sweep. Toranaga is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Penn gets back to full guard.
Penn trying to keep a closed guard but Toranaga is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Toranaga trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.
Penn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Toranaga is looking to control Penn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Toranaga avoid being mounted?

Toranaga is refusing to be controlled, as Penn sits in half guard.

Penn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Toranaga has a hand on Penn's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Penn takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Toranaga is in all sorts of trouble here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Toranaga tries to lock up and control but Penn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Penn controlling the pace for now.
Toranaga throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Toranaga is bucking up trying to escape but Penn cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Penn swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Toranaga is now in Penn's guard. A big mistake from Penn there, giving up the dominant position!
Penn looking for a sweep. Not yet Penn, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yoshi Toranaga dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Toranaga feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Penn decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Penn closes the distance and clinches up with Toranaga, looking for a takedown. Penn pushes Toranaga against the cage but Toranaga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Toranaga counters with a three punch combo that has Penn backing up. Penn nods at Toranaga to acknowledge the strikes.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Toranaga.
Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Yoshi Toranaga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Toranaga slows the pace down.
Toranaga wants to control but Penn is keeping him busy.

Toranaga tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Dj Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Yoshi Toranaga is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yoshi Toranaga.
Well Toranaga has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
