PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lewis Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Bowie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bowie's choice of entrance music: 300 Violin Orchestra - Jorge Quintero. Lewis Warren is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lewis Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raphael Bowie!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowie throws a series of punches but Warren moves out of range.
Warren scores with a punch to the head.
Warren misses with a head kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bowie enables Warren to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bowie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bowie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Warren in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Warren has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Warren slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Warren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bowie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Warren wants to get up but he can't break Bowie's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Warren gets tackled into the cage by Bowie. Bowie maintains the clinch.

Warren manages to break the clinch.

Warren shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bowie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Warren looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bowie looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Warren slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Warren tries to stand but Bowie is controlling from the bottom.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bowie has control of Warren's left arm, preventing Warren from doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Raphael Bowie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Warren slips a jab and a cross from Bowie.
Bowie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bowie's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Bowie duly obliges.
Bowie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Warren circles away quickly and effectively.
Bowie scores with a decent looking hook.
Warren checks a low kick from Bowie.

Bowie wants to control from the top but Warren keeps moving.

Bowie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Warren tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Warren is adopting a defensive guard.

Warren has his foot on Bowie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bowie works his way back into a safe position though.

Bowie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Warren is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bowie, into his guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Warren passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lewis Warren will probably get the nod.
That's time! Warren's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bowie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Bowie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bowie scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Warren closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bowie to the mat! Bowie manages to get full guard.
Warren trying to control but Bowie is working from the bottom.
Warren is looking to advance position but Bowie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Bowie is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Warren can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


It looks like Lewis Warren has been cut.
Bowie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Warren is looking to escape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bowie swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Warren is now in Bowie's guard. A big mistake from Bowie there, giving up the dominant position!

Warren is looking to advance position but Bowie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Bowie is looking to work his way around to Warren's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Warren is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Lewis Warren overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bowie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Bowie seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Warren is holding on tight.

Warren manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Warren is looking for a sweep. Bowie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bowie seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Warren is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
