Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alf Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Hayes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alf Stewart! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ron Honeybunn and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hayes has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hayes there as he acknowledges the shot.
It looks like Michael Hayes has been cut. Hayes fails with a takedown attempt. Hayes takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Hayes shoots in but no luck this time. Stewart swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Stewart closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Stewart wants to stand up but Hayes is controlling the position.
Hayes wants to control but Stewart is keeping busy and won't allow it. Stewart decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Hayes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stewart tries to avoid it but Hayes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stewart to the ground. Stewart escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Hayes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stewart throws a quick inside leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Hayes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hayes darts in looking for a takedown but Stewart gets double underhooks and turns Hayes into the cage. Stewart lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Hayes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stewart pinned against the cage. Stewart gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Michael Hayes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stewart rushes Hayes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hayes is trying to drag Stewart to the mat but Stewart just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Hayes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Stewart prevents it.

Hayes has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Hayes checks the leg kick. Stewart lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Hayes fails with a takedown attempt. Stewart throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hayes on the side of the head. Oooooh!!! Stewart has knocked Hayes down with a huge combo! Stewart steps away and waves a wobbly Hayes back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Hayes is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Hayes darts in looking for a takedown but Stewart gets double underhooks and turns Hayes into the cage. Oh Hayes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hayes tries to move into range but Stewart moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stewart moves into range and clinches up with Hayes. Stewart pulls guard. Stewart wants to get back to his feet but Hayes is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hayes seems to have got his legs back now. Hayes passes Stewart's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Hayes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Hayes seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hayes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stewart sees it coming and defends easily. Hayes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Stewart kicks Hayes off and gets back to his feet. Hayes shoots in looking for a takedown but Stewart manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hayes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hayes shoots in but no luck this time. Hayes shoots in for a takedown but Stewart shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Hayes takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Stewart stuffs the takedown. Stewart scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hayes doesn't seem bothered though. Hayes shoots in for a takedown. Stewart connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hayes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stewart defends well and Hayes ends up having to push Stewart into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Stewart jabs at Hayes's body. Stewart is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Hayes dives in for a single leg takedown but Stewart sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Stewart stuffs the takedown attempt from Hayes. Hayes gets slowly back to his feet. Stewart cracks Hayes with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Stewart gets in close and instigates a clinch. Stewart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Stewart defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hayes. Hayes shoots and misses and Stewart counters with a lovely straight right hand! Hayes tries for a takedown but Stewart sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hayes is breathing heavily. Stewart clinches up against the cage. Hayes wants a takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stewart is looking to escape. Stewart really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hayes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hayes wants to work for an arm triangle but Stewart is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hayes shoots for a takedown but Stewart saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fighters circle momentarily. Stewart darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Hayes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stewart sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hayes somewhat.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hayes doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Stewart wants to land a leg kick but Hayes is out of range. Hayes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Hayes shoots in but no luck this time. Stewart leaves Hayes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Hayes shoots in and drives through. Stewart sprawls well. Hayes definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Hayes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stewart as he jumps to the side. Stewart cracks Hayes with an open hand slap. Stewart lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hayes circles away quickly and effectively. Stewart is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Stewart dives in and grabs Hayes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hayes pushes down on Stewart's head and hops out. Hayes appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Stewart lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Stewart. Stewart lands a nice looking body shot.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hayes blocks a leg kick. Stewart lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Hayes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Stewart counters with a stiff right hand.

Hayes goes for a double leg but Stewart avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stewart continues to drive forward. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hayes. Stewart cracks Hayes with a good jab. Stewart scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Hayes shoots and misses and Stewart counters with a nice uppercut. Hayes takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Hayes fails with the takedown and Stewart counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Stewart. Stewart pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hayes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stewart is keeping the position for now. Hayes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hayes prevents Stewart from getting back to his feet. Hayes looking to pass the guard. Hayes passes Stewart's left leg - he's now in half guard. Stewart wants to get back to his feet.

Hayes is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stewart is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Hayes is working for a kimura but Stewart is defending it quite comfortably.

and Stewart holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Stewart breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Stewart throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Stewart darts in and clinches Hayes up against the cage. Hayes can't get the takedown.

And that's the end of the fight! Alf Stewart comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Stewart has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
