Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antero Mertaranta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Piras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mertaranta throws a body shot but no joy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Piras is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mertaranta is just riding it out for now. Piras eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mertaranta takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

As Piras tries to get set, Mertaranta tries to push him back and clinch up but Piras manages to avoid the attempt.

Piras lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Piras throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Piras has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mertaranta throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Piras stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Piras misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

A combination from Mertaranta does no damage.
Mertaranta tries to clinch but Piras moves out of range.
Piras swats away the attempt to clinch by Mertaranta.
Roberto Piras is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A big left from Mertaranta misses.
Mertaranta connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Piras momentarily.
Mertaranta doesn't manage to clinch there - Piras circles away.
Mertaranta lands a nice shot to the body.

Piras throws a nice looking combination but Mertaranta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mertaranta is looking to wear down Piras with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Piras connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Roberto Piras seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Piras misses with a series of wild punches.
Piras scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Piras gets tackled into the cage by Mertaranta. Mertaranta maintains the clinch.

Piras gets control of Mertaranta's arms and successfully pulls guard. Piras will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mertaranta is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Piras has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Mertaranta is looking to defend but Piras has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Mertaranta! Piras pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Mertaranta taps out and this one is all over!
