Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vasiliy Sobolev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Sanford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sobolev comes to the cage accompanied by Ya kuplu tebe dom. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 43 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vasiliy Sobolev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Sanford!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanford wants to clinch.
Sobolev tries to counter with a takedown but Sanford is quick to defend against it.
Sanford catches Sobolev with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sanford lands a nice hook to Sobolev's body. Sobolev takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Sobolev misses with a jab, cross combination.
A bone on bone clash there as Sobolev blocks the leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanford throws a push kick but Sobolev slaps the foot to one side.
Sobolev darts in looking for a takedown but Sanford gets double underhooks and turns Sobolev into the cage.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sanford, right into the meat.
Sanford tries a head kick but it misses.

Sanford throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sobolev drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sanford sprawls and moves away.
Sanford fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sobolev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sobolev takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Sanford tries to sprawl but Sobolev drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sanford tries to roll over but Sobolev keeps him under control.
Sobolev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sobolev thows a huge punch but Sanford dodges it nicely.
Nice strikes from Sobolev there.
Sobolev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sobolev drops an elbow to the side of Sanford's head.
Sobolev winds up and cracks Sanford with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sanford wants to improve his position but Sobolev is controlling well.

We've been hearing that Sobolev has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sanford is on top in guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Vasiliy Sobolev will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sanford tries to clinch but Sobolev is having none of it.

Sanford using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sobolev has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Sobolev blocks an elbow strike.
Sobolev has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sanford is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sanford digs a right hand underneath Sobolev's ribcage. Sobolev let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Sobolev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sobolev connects with a nice short shot to Sanford's temple.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Sobolev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sanford with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sobolev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sanford is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Sanford manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sobolev manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanford would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

I think Sobolev has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
