Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Butler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Farofa! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Butler darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Farofa avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Butler. Butler moves into full mount! Farofa won't be happy about that! Farofa can't escape the position.
Butler raining down shots from the mount! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Butler cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Farofa taking shots to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Butler landing punches. Butler punishing his opponent with strikes. Butler lands a couple of good shots and Farofa has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Farofa prevents Butler from getting a body triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Butler lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Farofa covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Butler is not going to allow Farofa to sit and survive in this position. Farofa has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Butler controls the position. Butler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Farofa breaks Butler's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Butler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Farofa preventing the sweep. Butler has Farofa pulled in close to control his posture. Butler has his feet on Farofa's thighs here. He's pushed Farofa off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Farofa screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
