The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sims drives through and clinches with Riggs against the cage.
Sims tries to score a body lock takedown but Riggs shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Riggs is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Sims keeps control of Riggs as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Riggs is trying to break free.
Riggs wants to get back to striking at distance but Sims won't allow it.
Sims can't get the takedown.

Eddie Riggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Sims.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Riggs is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sims asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Sims connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Riggs some visible discomfort.
Sims is putting a hurting on Riggs here, landing some big shots from side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Riggs here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sims.
Sims throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Riggs's waist but Riggs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sims off to one side.
Sims shoots in looking for a takedown. Riggs tries to sprawl out of it but Sims keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Riggs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Eddie Riggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Sims.

I think Riggs has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
