Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donnie Yen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Leer!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Leer defends well and Yen ends up having to push Leer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
It seemed like Leer was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Leer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Leer turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Leer trying to control the position but Yen is working away.
Yen tries to bench press Leer off him but Leer keeps the position.
Leer prevents Yen from escaping the position.
Yen is looking to regain half guard here but Leer keeps moving and retains side control.
Yen is working hard here to advance position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yen keeps working.
Leer has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Leer clinches up with Yen and pushes him back against the cage.
Yen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Leer gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Yen is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donnie Yen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yen wants a takedown but no success here.
Yen breaks the clinch.
Donnie Yen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leer drives through with a takedown into Yen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Yen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Leer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Yen will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Yen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Leer controlling from the top position.
Yen isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Leer stacks Yen on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Leer!
Yen is looking to reverse the position.
Leer trying to control the position but Yen is working away.
Yen is trying to control Leer's posture but Leer avoids it.
Leer tries to stand but Yen is controlling his head.
Leer throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

You can see the frustration on Yen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yen sneaks out the side door and pushes Leer away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Yen enables Leer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Yen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Yen has his hands on Leer's head, controlling the position.
Leer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Yen looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Leer passes into half guard.
Yen moves into full guard.

Leer is sitting in close to Yen's body. Yen has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Leer is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Leer is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Yen.
