Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Haywood Badger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Medeiros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Haywood Badger! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Jose Medeiros! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Badger takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Badger looks to land a right hand but Medeiros moved out of range. Medeiros throws a hook to the side of Badger's head but Badger sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Medeiros misses with a hook. We've been told by Badger's head coaches at Nelson Fight Camp that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Good standup being displayed there by Medeiros as he connects with a hook. Badger gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Medeiros to score an easy takedown into full guard. Badger is pulling down on Medeiros's head. It's preventing any offense from Medeiros, at least for the moment. Medeiros passes Badger's left leg - he's now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Medeiros trying to control from half guard but Badger is working away. Badger has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Medeiros escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Medeiros! Medeiros landing strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badger is not content to let Medeiros control the position. Badger keeping his opponent close. Medeiros wants to control for a moment but Badger uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Badger is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Medeiros pulls his head out easily. Medeiros lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Medeiros works his way into full mount! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Medeiros cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Medeiros lands a big elbow. Badger working to try and regain half guard.
Badger is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Medeiros looking to finish Badger with some ground and pound. This is bad for Badger! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Badger can't escape the position.
Badger is bucking up trying to escape but Medeiros cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Medeiros has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Badger is in a horrible position here. Medeiros smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Badger is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Medeiros pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Medeiros avoids the attempt from Badger to control. Medeiros with good strikes from the mount here! Medeiros prevents Badger from getting the reversal. Badger is squirming around, avoiding Medeiros's attempts to control the action. Badger is wriggling around trying to escape.
Medeiros trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Medeiros lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Medeiros postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Badger looks a forlorn figure.
Badger is rocked! Medeiros lands a big shot to the head and Badger winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Jose Medeiros! Jose Medeiros is the new bantamweight champion! During a confident post fight interview, Jose Medeiros thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
