5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Nicholas! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nicholas gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nicholas can't find room to land a body shot as Carey controls the action.
Carey has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Carey is trying to break the clinch but Nicholas is controlling him. Nicholas doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Nicholas has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Carey is trying to keep an underhook but Nicholas manages to get the takedown into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nicholas connects with a nice short shot to Carey's temple. Nicholas doesn't succeed with the takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Nicholas shoots in for a double leg but Carey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Nicholas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carey circles away. Charles Carey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Nicholas. Nice body kick from Carey. Nicholas connects with a body shot. Jack Nicholas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nicholas fails with the takedown and Carey counters with a good low kick that Nicholas was not able to check. Carey stuffs the takedown. And Carey counters with a quick kick to the body but Nicholas blocks it. Nicholas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Nicholas is breathing heavily. Nicholas tries to clinch but fails miserably and Carey counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Carey misses with a body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carey slaps away a takedown attempt from Nicholas, before circling back to the center of the mat. A head kick misses from Carey. Carey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nicholas wants to clinch but Carey slips to the side and Carey counters with a body kick that stops Nicholas in his tracks momentarily. Nicholas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Carey jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Nicholas walks into a jab. Carey connects with a solid leg kick. Nicholas misses with a takedown attempt and Carey counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Carey swings for the body but Nicholas moves out of range.
Charles Carey is winning the standup battle so far. A looping hook to the body misses from Nicholas. Carey does a little dance to reset his feet. Carey stuffs the takedown attempt from Nicholas. Nicholas gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nicholas throws a poor cross that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Nicholas shoots in for a double leg but Carey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Carey keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. It looked like Carey was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Nicholas. Charles Carey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nicholas wants to stay close but Carey steps back to make room for something. Nicholas seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Carey and Nicholas drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Charles Carey! Charles Carey decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
