Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Woodrow Stephenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Socool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Woodrow Stephenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Socool!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stephenson gets tackled into the cage by Socool. Socool maintains the clinch.
Socool missing with knees to the body.
Socool keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Stephenson's efforts to push away.

Socool breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Socool shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stephenson is trying to defend but Socool finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Socool tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stephenson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Stephenson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Socool tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stephenson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Socool is trying to control the action in half guard but Stephenson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Stephenson darts in looking for a takedown but Socool gets double underhooks and turns Stephenson into the cage.
Stephenson tries to clinch there but Socool circles away.

Socool moves into range and clinches up with Stephenson.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Socool drags the fight down to the ground.
Socool has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Socool thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Stephenson stands up over Socool, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Socool is looking to stand up but Stephenson isn't so interested in that idea.
Socool pulls Stephenson in close to his closed guard and prevents Stephenson from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Stephenson distracts Socool with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Socool throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Socool looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Socool is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stephenson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stephenson has escaped and now he's on top!

Stephenson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Socool wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnny Socool dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Stephenson gets caught napping as Socool dives in and scores a takedown. Stephenson manages to retain guard.
Johnny Socool has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stephenson is trying to keep Socool in close.
Socool is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Socool must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Socool is pulling down on Stephenson's head. It's preventing any offense from Stephenson, at least for the moment.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Socool throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Woodrow Stephenson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stephenson fails with the takedown.
Socool takes a swing at Stephenson's ribcage but misses.
Socool pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Socool closes the distance and clinches.

Socool has Stephenson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Socool pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Stephenson tumbling to the mat - Socool dives into Stephenson's guard.

Socool stands and steps away. Stephenson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Stephenson fails to land the takedown.
Socool throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

It looks like Woodrow Stephenson has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stephenson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Socool sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stephenson somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Woodrow Stephenson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Socool feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Socool postures up in Stephenson's guard and throws a big left but Stephenson blocks it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Socool turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

The referee asks Socool politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Socool prefers to stall for the moment though.

Socool decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Socool moves into the clinch successfully.

Socool has clasped his hands together around Stephenson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Stephenson wants to get back to his feet but Socool drags him back down.

Stephenson regains half guard there - taking advantage of Socool's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Stephenson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Socool stands up from Stephenson's guard - Socool perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stephenson closes the distance and clinches up with Socool, looking for a takedown. Stephenson pushes Socool against the cage but Socool circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Socool drives through with a takedown into Stephenson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Socool decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Stephenson, up you get!

Socool looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Socool wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stephenson keeps working.

Johnny Socool comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Socool has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
