Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Polo!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Polo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A nice side step and Polo releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Polo wants to land a leg kick but Whitaker is out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Whitaker on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Whitaker misses with a double jab
enabling Polo to counter with a crisp jab.
Whitaker lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ray Whitaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whitaker scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Polo misses with an uppercut
and Whitaker counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Whitaker darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Polo throws a lazy uppercut
and Whitaker counters with a nice uppercut.
Polo is rocked!
Whitaker closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Polo! Whitaker dives in looking to finish! Polo is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
