The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Claude enables Smith to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Claude manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Claude is adopting a defensive guard.
Claude manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.
Claude maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Smith could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Claude has cracked it and Smith is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Claude!
