Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bue Colic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Mendosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bue Colic had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 157.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Bue Colic could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Paulo Mendosa's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendosa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Colic, who protects the arm well.

Mendosa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Mendosa drops back looking for a leg! Colic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Colic manages to kick Mendosa off! Mendosa jumps back into Colic's guard.

Mendosa is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Colic trying to control but Mendosa is having none of it.
Colic tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Colic is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Colic lands shots from the back.
Colic keeps control of the position as Mendosa tries to break free.
Colic is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Mendosa tries to roll but Colic sticks to his back.
Mendosa manages to reverse the position and now he's in Colic's guard. Nice work there by Mendosa.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mendosa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Colic tries to close the distance and clinch but Mendosa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mendosa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Colic as he avoids it easily.
Mendosa misses with a takedown attempt - Colic sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bue Colic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Mendosa.

Colic is looking to take a break and control but Mendosa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mendosa stops Colic from passing to mount.

Paulo Mendosa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mendosa is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Colic pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Colic passes the guard and advances to mount!

Colic attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Colic wants to stand but Mendosa has his arm trapped.
Mendosa tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Colic cracks Mendosa with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Mendosa tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Colic wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mendosa gets back to half guard.
Mendosa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Colic's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Colic's back!

Colic wants to get back to his feet.

Mendosa is cranking Colic's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Colic! He's tightened the choke and Colic is tapping out!
