Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Igor Gago! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Rackham! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gago tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rackham swivels and escapes. Gago misses with a takedown attempt - Rackham sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. We've been informed that Rackham has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Gago tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rackham sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gago somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Igor Gago. That's going to take a lot out of him. Left hook, right uppercut from Rackham.
It looks like Igor Gago has been cut. Rackham avoids a kick to the body.
Rackham throws a counter combo. Rackham tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Rackham misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gago with a poor takedown and Rackham counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Rackham scores with a nice body kick.

Rackham gets through Gago's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gago drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rackham gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Gago shoots for a takedown but Rackham saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A little jabbing left from Rackham on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. A bone on bone clash there as Rackham blocks the leg kick.
Rackham throws a wild body kick that Gago sees coming a mile off. Rackham ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gago moves away. Gago tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rackham swivels and escapes. Rackham lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gago at a distance.
Rackham misses with a body kick. Gago looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Rackham connects with a body shot that sends Gago's belly button to the back. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rackham fails to land with a series of punches.
Gago with a body punch. A glancing blow. Rackham throws a nice outside leg kick. Rackham feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gago's calf. Gago forces Rackham back against the cage and clinches. Rackham's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rackham displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gago. Igor Gago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rackham throws the kick towards the body but Gago avoids it. Rackham slips a straight right by Gago. Gago misses with a looping right. Gago closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Gago drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gago misses with a hook from the clinch. Rackham unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gago lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Gago looking to throw knees to the head but Rackham is blocking nicely.
Rackham putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Gago in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Gago is breathing heavily. Rackham breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Gago closes the distance and clinches up with Rackham, looking for a takedown. Gago pushes Rackham against the cage but Rackham circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gago moves out of range of the body kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rackham throws a half hearted mid kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gago. Rackham dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gago. That did some damage! Rackham rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gago moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Gago tries for a takedown but Rackham circles away easily and Rackham counters with a straight punch to the midsection. That kick from Rackham tenderised Gago's leg. Gago is trying to keep his angry face on. Rackham throws the kick towards the body but Gago avoids it. Gago has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gago there as he acknowledges the shot. Rackham swings away with a body shot that misses
and Gago counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gago controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gago trying to control but Rackham is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gago slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Gago wants to control from the top but Rackham keeps moving. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rackham is trying to keep Gago in close.
Rackham keeping moving, preventing Gago from controlling successfully. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Rackham dominated that round. The cut man is working on Igor Gago's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Rackham keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gago. Jack Rackham is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gago shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rackham can do anything to dispel that myth. Gago has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rackham really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gago. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gago is working for a guillotine from mount but Rackham frees his head quite easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gago looking to secure an arm triangle but Rackham defends it well. Gago trying to control but Rackham is having none of it.

Gago looking for a guillotine from mount but Rackham is having none of it. Rackham is squirming around, avoiding Gago's attempts to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gago stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Gago shoots in but Rackham avoids the takedown attempt easily. Rackham throws a quick inside leg kick. Rackham swinging wildly here.
Rackham stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rackham wants it to stay on the feet. Gago tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rackham manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Gago takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Gago goes for a double leg but Rackham avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rackham continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Igor Gago. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fighters circling - Gago throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Gago on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Gago uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rackham has time to react. Rackham is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gago rather than just go for the knockout. Gago fails with a takedown attempt. Rackham throws a front kick that sends Gago stumbling back into the cage. Rackham seems to be stalking Gago here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Gago drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jack Rackham! Jack Rackham is the new middleweight champion! After winning the bout, Jack Rackham thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
