Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Quinta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivo Koljeno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivo Koljeno is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cesar Quinta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ivo Koljeno!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quinta shoots in and bounces Koljeno off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Quinta working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quinta's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Quinta controlling from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Quinta drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Koljeno dives on top into guard.

Quinta has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Quinta is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quinta lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Quinta is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Quinta is in close to Koljeno's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Quinta controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Quinta stands up over Koljeno, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Koljeno is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Quinta is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Quinta engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quinta looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Quinta seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Koljeno for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koljeno keeping moving, preventing Quinta from controlling successfully.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Quinta is looking to work some ground and pound but Koljeno has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Quinta lands a body shot.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Quinta changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Quinta looking to score a takedown here. Koljeno is defending well but Quinta drives through and ends up in Koljeno's guard.
Quinta is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Quinta is working Koljeno over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Quinta passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Koljeno tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quinta wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Koljeno is letting Quinta control him for a moment.
Quinta in side control lands a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cesar Quinta dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Quinta fails to land with a series of punches.
Quinta misses with a head kick.
Koljeno blocks a head kick by Quinta.
Sloppy strikes from Koljeno. Those never looked like landing.

Quinta gets a takedown into half guard.
Quinta scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Quinta lands a nice short elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quinta is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Koljeno is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Quinta lands with a punch from half guard.

Quinta working over Koljeno with some ground and pound. Koljeno looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Quinta lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Koljeno wants to get back to his feet.
Quinta has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Quinta looking to isolate an arm here. Koljeno doesn't see it coming and as Quinta extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Quinta!
